McKee Tirecraft has been selling and servicing tires in Simcoe, Grey and Dufferin counties from their Collingwood location since 1956. The business looked after all aspects of tires from lawn and garden, passenger, light truck, medium commercial truck, farm and Off Road Tires. In the 70’s Tom McKee and Tim McKee (cousins) started working for their father’s Bob and John McKee at the Collingwood location. The two started off on the shop floor worked their way up to the mobile service trucks and onto business operations and management. In 1978 the two cousins purchased the business from their father’s and became partners.
Tim and Tom began expanding their on road mobile service area to better service the areas of Collingwood, Orangeville, Shelburne, Alliston, Barrie, Dundalk, Meaford, Bradford, Midland and Orillia. Customers knew they could trust the McKee Tire name for fast reliable service at a fair price. The business out grew the Collingwood location despite building expansions and storage facilities being added. The Barrie market was exploding and in 1996 a second satellite location was added south of Barrie in the Innisfil Industrial Park on Bowman Street.
This new location focused on the commercial truck tire traffic that traveling highway #400 and the number of trucking fleets that were beginning to locate in the Alliston, Barrie, and Bradford area. McKee Tire soon started to grow in the local market and people started to bring their cars, pickups and SUV, CUVs to them for all their tire and rim needs. Due to rapid growth Tim in 2001 came over from Collingwood to manage the Innisfil location. What had started out as a satellite location with 2 trucks, had grown so rapidly that it needed to operate as a standalone business.
In 2005 Mckee Tire reviewed the Tirecraft banner program and saw that it was a fit for their business. Both companies shared common values focused on customer needs. Today they sell and service all tire segments passenger, Light truck, Commercial Medium Truck, Farm, Industrial, Construction and Off Road Tires. They have added custom and performance wheels as well as winter tire and rim packages. Mobile service is still a key component and today they have 4 mobile service trucks and 2 boom trucks for farm and OTR tires.
McKee Tirecraft is a staple in the community as it evolved and changed. They have not strayed from their roots which began in 1956. Customer service and satisfaction have helped us get to where we are today and will be our growth for the future. Give us a call we will be glad to look after you with the same old fashion values and service ethics that we built our business on.
