Fall Tire Roundup: TIRECRAFT’s Top Recommendations For Cooler Weather

Discover TIRECRAFT’s recommendations for cooler weather, fall tires choices, and when to changeover your tires to ones that are more seasonally appropriate.

What Are the Best Tires For Autumn?

All-season tires are great for early fall driving. But at some point, the temperature will drop below seven degrees. This is a key milestone because when the rubber compounds in all-season tires start to stiffen up. They’re no longer able to grip the road and provide the traction you need when it gets cold.

Depending on where you live, seven degrees might be the regular overnight low by mid-October, and the regular midday high by late October. This means your all-season tires won’t be functioning at peak efficiency at that time. This can negatively affect your mileage, your insurance rates and, most importantly, your safety.

Winter And All-Weather Tires

We sometimes colloquially refer to cold weather tires as “snow tires”. While these tires do handle snow, slush, and ice adeptly, the low ambient temperature is the main issue. Both winter tires and all-weather tires are made of rubber compounds that can withstand these temperatures.

The Rubber Association of Canada designates both winter and all-weather tires as safe for winter and fall driving. It’s important to remember that all-weather and all-season tires are different. All-season tires aren’t suitable for real cold weather driving. Only winter and all-weather tires have the snowflake and mountain pictogram on them. This embossing shows that the tire is safe for winter driving.

Cold Weather Tire Options

At TIRECRAFT, we carry tires from dozens of the most popular tire brands. Many of these tire manufacturers also make great all-weather and winter tires. If you like Uniroyal tires, you can choose the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice & Snow II Winter Tire. If you’re loyal to Bridgestone, try the Blizzak WS90 winter tire. Or maybe you want the Michelin X-Ice tire.

TIRECRAFT understands that different drivers have different preferences. That’s why we have so many different brands of tires for sale. In addition to the brands mentioned above, we sell Hankook, Cooper, Continental, Firestone, Ironman, BFGoodrich, Goodyear, Yokohama, and more. Our tire experts can recommend winter tires that work for your needs. We have a wide variety of tire brands that make excellent winter tires.

Tire Storage

What do you do with your tires when you’re not using them? Just put them in your garage? Stack them up in your storage unit in your building? What if you don’t have such options?

If you don’t have one of those storage spaces, or even if you do, your best option may be professional tire storage. Proper tire storage and care is best to maintain the quality of your tires. TIRECRAFT can help.

Having TIRECRAFT store your tires, you’ll never have to worry about the state of your investment in your tires. You can trust that we’ll care for your tires properly until you need them again. We can keep your tires safe, properly stored, and in the best condition possible. You won’t have to worry about lugging them in and out of a storage unit, puncturing them on debris in your garage, or of them being kept at the wrong temperature for too long.
