From City Streets To Mountain Peaks: TIRECRAFT’s Guide To Versatile Tires

Picking The Right Tires

If you’ve ever looked into getting the perfect tires for your vehicle and driving habits, you’ve probably discovered it’s pretty difficult to determine. Not only are there many different tires out there, many people don’t do just one kind of driving. If you only ever commute to work on city streets, then it’s a little simpler. What if you like to go camping, though? Or visit family in a rural community? Or enjoy off-roading? What tires do you get then?

It’s always beneficial to get advice that’s specific to you. That’s why, if you have any questions, please visit a TIRECRAFT location near you. Our tire experts will give you expert advice. We have a wide array of tires for sale, so whatever tires you need, we can supply them to you.

How Many Different Tires Are There?

You can divide tires into many categories. There are tires for different vehicles, tires for different weather conditions, and tires for different types of driving. As a result, there are thousands of different tires out there. Here are some questions to ask yourself when trying to choose a tire:

What Vehicle Tire Type Do I Need?

Different vehicles have different sizes and dimensions. If you install tires designed for a passenger car on your light truck, you’re going to have a bad time. Cars, trucks, and SUVs all have their own specific tires, as do commercial vehicles, such as trailers.

What Time Of Year Is It?

At TIRECRAFT, we recommend driving on proper snow tires in winter. For much of Canada, it’s best to drive on snow tires for parts of autumn and spring, too. This is because snow tires are just as much about handling cold weather as they are snow. Both winter tires and all-weather tires are safe options for Canadian winters.

Do I Want A Specialty Tire?

Specialty tires are designed for fulfilling specific purposes. If all you do is drive to work and to the grocery store, you probably don’t need a specialty tire. However, they can be useful if you drive a luxury vehicle, enjoy off-roading, or use your vehicle for certain types of work.

Your specialty Tire Options

At TIRECRAFT, we sell various specialty and non-standard tires. Our goal is to supply Canadian drivers with the tires they need, whether they want to pick their kids up from school or drive all the way through the Rocky Mountains. Here are some special tires we sell:

All-terrain Tires
All-terrain tires can handle more than well-maintained city streets. All-terrain, or AT, tires have aggressive tread designs. Drivers typically install AT tires on pickup trucks or SUVs, especially Jeep brand vehicles.

All-terrain tires can handle just about any surface. If you’re the type of person who’s liable to start your day in the city and end up in a muddy field, AT tires might be for you. Many off-road tires have a deeper and wider groove design. Such tread patterns allow for better traction on loose gravel, sand, or mud because they channel water and debris away from the tire as it maintains contact with the ground.

Performance Tires
High-performance tires are for drivers who really get a thrill out of driving. If having the ultimate driving experience is important to you, consider investing in some performance tires. These tires are typically summer tires, and tire manufacturers design them to provide precise cornering and handling. Owners of luxury vehicles often equip their cars with performance summer tires.

Run Flat Tires
A few performance tires are also run flat tires. Tire designers make these tires so they can allow drivers to keep driving in the event of a flat tire. A run flat tire features sidewalls that allow vehicles to travel short distances with little to no air inside them. Many high-performance vehicles have run flats on them, and they can provide better handling compared to standard summer tires.

Commercial Vehicle Tires
At TIRECRAFT, we also have many tires for sale for various commercial vehicles. Larger vehicles require different tires, as do vehicles that spend most of their time on surfaces other than paved roads. If you run a commercial or industrial business with one or more vehicles, please contact TIRECRAFT to learn how we can fulfill your tire needs.
